<:avglsdata id=avglsdata> Hi to all Thanks for the encouraging response to this years idea for walk(s) We have set a date for the walk up Athol Hill to the summit on the Denver Pacific south of Cheyenne, its a spectacular walk with many finds and beautiful scenery and wildlife. This year we will walk this line and looks at the remains of the Colorado Central RR on Terry Ranch on Saturday June 11th, meeting at the ranch at 1pm. Spaces are limited to 40 and we already have a lot of expressions of interest. The walk is about 1.5 miles in total and we have a bus ride out to the start and then we will visit another part of the grade and look at the recently discovered 1869 border marker. With the owners permission we will look at the remains of the Athol section house and recently discovered side tracks and Wye and look at the artifacts we have found from the earliest days of western railroading, remember this line was built by the very same crews and trains that built the transcon, they shook hands at Promontory and immediately headed back to Cheyenne to build the DP to Denver. We intend to walk and then if people wish end the day with a meal at the ranch steakhouse (meal not included) cost will be $10 per person ($5 for children). Thanks and look forward to seeing you all Mike Pannell Car 57 project [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
