When looking through the Burlington Route 2011 calender I found the piece of rail stock used to deflect cars way from the main line at Corning, Iowa very interesting. Then when I received the current April issue of Model Railroader The Information Desk section had an article called Small town railroading in the early 1950's. Low and behold there was another picture of the same location in Corning, Iowa. With explanations on the items shown in the picture. In the same issue was weathering techniques. One of the tech- niques was used on a N scale CB&Q box car. Then comes my Spring issue of Classic Trains with not one but two articles on the Burlington Route's Denver to Billings Night Crawler train. Loaded with great pictures of an E8 and SD9's black birds pulling the train, all in color too. Plus an article on Burlington Route's RPO survivors. Like the old saying goes, when it rains it pours.
