Rich,

OK, I didn't remember what car types were being discussed. There were silver
baggage cars in Zephyr service, but they weren't heavyweights. Page 14 of
the Spoor book cited below shows a Class BA-19 Havelock economy baggage car
#992 that was originally painted in shadow line but was repainted silver.
BB#36 discusses the original and repainted BA-19 baggage cars in detail and
show pictures of several silver cars. The BA-19 cars were sort of a hybrid
between a heavyweight and streamliner.

A few days ago there was a thread about whether or not any heavyweights were
painted silver for Zephyr service. The given answer was no. While browsing
through Spoor's CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment this
morning, I found several silver heavyweights used in Zephyr service, most
notably Clover Veldt, Zephyr Tower, Happy Hollow Club, and Wadena. There
were also some rebuilt coaches and diners in silver paint, but there was no
indication that these were used in Zephyr service. Only Silver Veldt was
shown with the shadow line paint scheme.

Nelson
