Glen- That would be great! I believe that the grade started maybe 3 feet above the existing level of the IHB tracks which were depressed as low as they dared (there was some discussion about the tracks not being able to be below the flood level of Salt Creek when the Chicago, Hammnond and Western sued the CB&Q to cross at grade). We know from photos the tracks in front of the Congress Park/West Grossdale station were at street level and were raised by 4 or 5 feet in front of the station for the original crossing of the Belt. Later, when the front of the station was demolished by a derailment and the CB&Q decided to put in the subway to reach the platform, the track was raised even more (and I think the bridges were raised over the IHB by about 3 feet). Later, to accomodate HiCubes and autoracks, the IHB lowered some if not all of the tracks under the CB&Q.
