Group, Recently I was standing trackside in East Dubuque waiting for a friend to go past me (I took a picture of his engines and the East Dubuque Station sign) and while I watched the train ahead of the one I was waiting for roll by, there was a tank car with BN reporting marks but the Burlington Route herald and Burlington were still clearly visible and actually looked pretty good. I wasn't expecting to see that tank car that day otherwise I would have gotten my camera out sooner. But I got to thinking, just exactly how many CB&Q (not FW&D because it existed much later after the BN merger) cars are still running around on the BN system today? I have seen many (a dozen or so) of the old hoppers that are used in tie service that still have Q numbers and reporting marks. The other day marked the second time I have seen a real reminder of the Q on a tank car--I saw one out duck hunting a couple of years ago. And, I am aware of a few ex Q engines still being on the active BNSF roster in one form or another. Those I am not wondering about. I was just thinking if anyone had starting building a list or reference point about freight cars that were still in use on their home rails. Thanks, Sam ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
