It's interesting that you bring that up. A year or two after you, I visited the 
same place and noticed the builder's plate. I tracked down the owner and asked 
if he were willing to part with same. I did not have any builder's plates and I 
decided I needed to at least ask. He gave me a card with a maybe. I also eyed 
the bell, but could not afford what I thought the cost would be. Not to mention 
shipping.

I followed up with a letter and an offer. He wrote back and said he got a 
ladder and took it down and found it to be a reproduction. I was disappointed 
but he also stated that he couldn't in good conscience take my original offer 
but would let me have it for some small token. I don't remember what he charged 
me. So I accepted and it's hung on my wall in the shop. I have often wondered 
what the 28 and 30 meant, and what loco the original came from.
