Leo and Steve, Thanks so much for the info on all those local jobs. I wish we had half that number of jobs still out of Eola. The "steel place" I was referring to was indeed Lyon Metal. Cat seemed like quite the operation back in the day. We're lucky if we get 5 loads a night out of there now. I hadn't realized there was an Earlville turn out of Eola. I would assume they brought cars out there for the Rock Falls train and/or interchange? It still amazes me the amount of work that was in and around Aurora and surrounding towns. Thanks again you guys. Jeff P.S. If anyone is so inclined... The grain elevator at the Sheep Yard in Montgomery still has the ghost image of the Burlington Route herald on the north side along with much of the text advertising the 75,000 bushel capacity. It's in pretty bad shape but still can be made out. Also, right about the Rt. 31 overpass (just west of the Montgomery Plant) there is a business that has 2 or 3 Burlington semi trailers (35'?). The one parallel to the tracks (south side) you can still make out the Burlington lettering. I'm sure some of this has been discussed before but just thought I'd throw it out there while we were on the subject. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
