For those who might be in the Chicago area Tuesday Morning, there will be a
special train.
The train is the annual CREATE excursion by which railroad officials and state
representatives ride the entire Chicago terminal network and view planned or
in-progress improvements to the system.
The train will depart B-Ville on Tuesday morning and will start the trip via
the IHB at B12. The job briefing is scheduled for 0730 and the train should
depart shortly thereafter. The power will be an ABB set of NS F units.
Actually, there will be four F units, but the fourth one will be used to pull
the train to B-Ville on Monday from the rear. The ABB set will be on the east
end and this will eliminate the need to wye the train before the Tuesday AM
departure. The 4th F unit will remain at B-Ville where it will be spun on the
turntable and be in position to pull the train backward to the NS once it
returns to B-Ville.
This train will cover just about every segment of railroad in the Chicago area.
It will go as far south as Dolton where it will head north again on the UP. It
will then head back south over the CN to Kensington where it will somehow get
on the BRC for the return trip to Galewood and then west to B-Ville.
Feel free to forward this information to anyone who may be interested.
Sam Carlson
