Waycars of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR by Daniel P. Holbrook &
Steve Lorenz was published by Prototype Modeler in 1978 and can sometimes be
found by patiently searching the web. Try the standard "out of print" book
sites like Amazon Books, Abe Books, Alibris, railpub.com, etc. as well as
asking if anyone from the CB&Q Yahoo group might have one for sale.
Patience usually pays off and you should be able to find a copy of the book
for
somewhere in the $50- $65 range depending on condition. It is an 11" x
8-1/2" (horizontal format), 108 page, paper bound book with plenty of all
time
rosters and great b&w photos including waycars of the CB&Q. The waycars
range from vintage wooden waycars, work train cars to all steel wide vision
waycars with some very interesting drover waycars and very unusual passenger
waycar combos.

Hol Wagner's 1973 BN Annual has a 17 page section on "Waycars West."

Finally, there is a third possibility Burlington Northern Railroad
Cabooses 1970-1995 by Robert DelGrosso a 2006 publication by Great Northern
Pacific Publications. This color print book has sections of each of the BN
predecessor road waycars and cabooses from the CB&Q, C&S, FW&D to the GN, NP
and SP&S with some rosters of cars that made it to the BN and their final
disposition.

Mike Spoor's 1995 Morning Sun Books CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and
Passenger Equipment also features about 14 color pages of CB&Q waycars from
almost every class.

Happy hunting!

Later, Dave S. Tucson, AZ
