There is an out-of-print book by Holbrook & Lorenz that extensively covered
CB&Q waycars including your era (predecessor roads like CB&N, B&MR, H&StJ, etc)
There is an updated, greatly expanded version pending from another publisher,
MP206. Also one of the BN Motive Power Annuals from the early 1970's listed
those Q waycars existing at time of BN merger that included some pretty old
wooden ones although none quite into the pre-1900 era. There have also been
photos of vintage Q waycars in calendars produced by MP206 and by BRHS. Both
have websites where old calendars, etc may be purchased. BRHS also issued a
set of waycar slides and of course all sorts of photos, books, etc can be found
at BRHS meets; the Annual Meet is this fall in Geneva, IL.

I am new to this post and was wondering if anyone has any information on early
Q waycars? ....1880 to 1900.
