I have been told that Grandpa (Oscar Falkenstein) went to work for the Q in 1911. His railroad watch, however, is a 1915 Hamilton, Serial No. 1433451. Question --- would ALL railroad employees in the early 1900s have carried a railroad watch, or would it only have been key personnel such as engineers, tower personnel, telegraph operators and supervisors? Would a common laborer on a B. & B. crew have carried a railroad watch? If it was only engineers, then I can assume that he worked as a laborer from 199-1915. If, however, EVERYONE carried a watch, then I can assume that he started working for the Q in 1915, not in 1911. As always, any help appreciated. Bob ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
