Those trains on the Wymore Division ran pretty much on time all the
time...During my time there...1956-58. 89-42 departed Lincoln for St. Joe about
10:00am got to Wymore around noon. This was a conventional train with an E
unit and 4-5 heavyweight cars...41-90 was the Pioneer Zephyr which operated
Lincoln-St. Joe via Tecumseh leaving Lincoln 12:15am St. Joe 4:00am or
so...Left St. Joe around noon arriving Wymore about 2:00pm and Lincoln around
3:30pm so his would have been about right for after school transportation from
Beatrice to Hoag.

Hoag, as you may know, is heavy shipper of agricultural products and
consititutes one of the main sources of business for the Lincoln-Beatrice
local. This train was 93-94 during my time..Out of Lincoln around 4:00am with
a big setout for Crete and Wymore mid morning to noon. CF about 8:00pm at
Wymore with pickups at Hoag and Beatrice and an all night switching session at
Crete.

Pete

rain 41-90 must have been the train that my sister-in-law rode home from school
n 1950-51. My wife (and sisters) were from Hoag, between Beatrice and De Witt,
nd went to country school thru 8th grade. When my sister-in-law was in 9th
rade (at Beatrice), she was too young to get a special school driving permit,
o she rode the train home in the afternoon from Beatrice to Hoag. Train 41
ust have been punctual for her to ride regularly. CB&Q must have been
ccommodating also, as Hoag was not listed as a stop in the public timetable.

here has been no passenger service on the Republican Valley line between Wymore
nd Oxford since March 58 when trains 15-16 (motor trains) were discontinued.
Last service between Wymore and St. Joe via Table Rock and Napier was IIRC Feb
962 when trains 89-42 and 41-90 were discontinued.
