A big "thanks" to all the volunteers who prepared and conducted the Spring meet. The best 'surprise' I & the group I was found was going a few miles NW to Lenora (on the abandoned line from Streator to Zearing) and finding the depot still in place! Now owned by a Ham Radio group and mostly covered with siding, there was enough exposed to see the old 'red' on board & bat. Also we got to see the inside including the old floor, the 'attic' (all the original beams, etc) AND the basement! That was the real surprise - I do not recall ever seeing a small to medium CB&Q depot with a basement and it was original from the old foundation evidence (and a 6'6" to 7' ceiling - NOT a crawl space!) Also 'Smitty's' bar/cafe in Lenora (which is why we drive there for lunch) served a tenderloin that MANY attendees can attest to that was approx. 8" wide & 15" long - all for $5.50. Would feed a family of 4! Tks again Laird Brown & Bob Weber for tipping us off! Gerald _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy.
