The IH Farmall Plant was in Rock Island, and served by all three railroads, the
DRI Line, the CB&Q, and the CRI&P. IH had their combine plant in East Moline.
Case had a large plant in Bettendorf that was the old Bettendorf Company works
that built railroad trucks before WWII. That site was mostly purchased by the
Alter Company. The administrative building is the Alter Company headquarters
and the Isle of Capri Casino and hotel complex was built where part of the
factory stood, just to the east of the I-74 Twin Bridges. It was served
exclusively by the DRI Line and its co-owners on DRI line trackage. The CRI&P
had trackage rights to Clinton on the DRI Line after the RI abandoned their
line (old BCR&N)through Dixon and McCausland to Clinton, in late 30's or early
40's, but the RI did not have any local traffic rights along the way through
Bettendorf, Riverdale, Pleasant Valley, LeClaire, Princeton, etc.
