Pat,

The Q used Leslie S-2M's on their later EMD locomotives, but unfortunately, no
one makes an S-2M that is still readily available.  Overland #9015 was fairly
accurate, but has an incorrect base for the Q from what I've gathered.  In my
research, the Details West AH-190 is pretty close all around, except it is a
Leslie S-3L-R. which has the middle bell reversed.  I've got a GP35 on my
workbench currently and got the AH-190 with the intention of cutting off the
rearward facing bell, leaving a decent representation of an S-2M.  I
haven't done so yet, so cannot report on how it looks.

As for the handrails, based on the two shots of 978 on RPA, the handrails
appear to be black.  It also looks like the forward handrail was painted white
on the sloped section.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [CBQ] GP35 information

Can someone tell me which Detail Associates or Details West horn would
be correct for GP35 CB&Q 978? Also, what color were the handrails, and
was a different color used on the upright areas by the steps?

Thanks in advance,
