they have moved appox. 75 yds east and are building a complete new prier and 
this will put the west pier in the middle of channel on the west side of the 
draw span.They had to do this as they could not bore down to bedrock next to 
the east prier because of the debris laying on the bottom of the river.no 
construction has started yet on the new loift span

I worked as an operator at Connett while they were driving pile for the trestle.
IIRC 800 + side dump loads of rip-rap brought down from Gladstone was placed 
before
it started showing through the water. The first train over the trestle was No. 
18,
ever so slowly as the bents could be seen moving under the train. There was 
water
still lapping at the end of ties, most of the two weeks I worked there.
