Leo,

Mt. Morris never had a ready mix.  Besides Kable Printing there were at
different times, 2 lumber yards that recieved lumber, a coal dealer and 2
elevators.  As a teen I worked for the one elevator and remember loading box
cars with corn. Had to board up the doors with either lumber or the steel strap
reinforced cardboard grain doors that the RR supplied to the elevators.  Kables
recieved rolls of paper , and still does, as well as shipping waste paper to
recyclers and still does that today.  Back in the 60's they had conveyors from
the bindery right to the docks and a short conveyor that would swing right into
the box cars and they would load mail directly into the cars.  Later on they
also had piggyback ramps for semi trailers.  That ended in the mid 70's as I
remember. Track one and three are gone today, track two recieves inbound rolls
of paper and outbound wastepaper is loaded on track two with several fully
loaded cars outbound daily.
Track four recieves inbound rolls of paper for the roto presses, nothing
outbound.  Paper on track two is offset paper.

Rick, I hope this helps out some,  Leo, do you remember what years you worked
the branch to Mt. Morris??

Rich,

The Oregon/Mt Morris Job switched the sand plant. There was one trip a day
to the plant to pull loads and set mtys. Getting time on the main was
difficult. Main reason for the recent extension of the pass up to resin and
sand
plant.
Eastbounds were usually left on the east end of the pass and wests on the
west end of the CB&N. The usual s/o for 181/353 was on the west end of the
Mt Morris main or things could be reversed.
The wayfrt(Oregon, Chadwick Turn) usually handled the Kable cars to Aurora
depot.
The P/U would haul the eastbound loads and 181 would take the wests.
There was a Redimix plant at Mt Morris and if my memory is correct an
elevator.

Leo
