List, Sorry if this has been covered before, but, I was ordered for a train today that requires a brakeman and the crew caller told me to "take care of his star brakeman." I thought he was just being funny and I asked why he called him a star brakeman and he mentioned that aside from the head and rear brakemen there were also star brakemen. He said it was an old BN agreement (I would assume they were CB&Q guys) where when they came into town they were to go out first no matter what or it would be a claim for them. Apparently that class of brakemen went when the last guy retired. Now, first of all, were there really "star" brakemen? And if so, were they prior righted from a particular terminal? Did it have anything to do with passenger vs. freight service? Just kind of piqued my curiosity. Thanks, Jeff ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
