There was a query on the Steam Era Freight Car List about gondolas GM-1 and GM-2 195000-196499 built by Western Steel and Galesburg in 1925 and 1927, seeking an in-service photo, paint scheme and details of any particular customer or service. The only photo I've found is in Zephyr #55 page 22 of a GM-2 but it was taken after the sides had been rebuilt with box car ends. I presume that these cars would have been painted mineral red with white lettering, with a Burlington Route herald possibly at the centre of the sides. Can anyone provide any photo locations or other information? Please include Claus in your reply. Rupert Gamlen Auckland NZ ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
