Dan, The # of industries on the Geneva/West Batavia branch? In a word. Many. It would depend the particular time period. What I've come to really understand while spending my entire working life in the rail industry and researching the history of the Alley Job is that business and industries come and go but the RR stays until there are no businesses to serve. Theres a rule of thumb in the shortline business that 10% of your lines customers turn over each year. If you can find one of the old BN SPINS booklets for the line it would provide a lot of info for the mid 70s. Also the various shipper/customer books the RR and certain publishers issued are helpful.
