Hi all,

After many years, I'm resuming my N-scale Aeolus project. It will be a
conversion shell (loco and tender) for the Con-Cor Hudson. A helpful
co-modeler is loaning me a mechanism with which to fit the shell (and see
if it is feasible to retrofit the distinctive roller-bearing siderods).

It's looking like the tender will be a resin casting, and the loco a resin
casting of the boiler shroud with photoetched wrap-around side skirts and
cab (for clearance reasons--the photoetch can be .010" thick, while a resin
sideskirt would need to be at least .030" thick for reasonable structural
integrity) and photoetched handrails.

I'm currently leaning toward 4000 because the cab is simpler in contrast to
4001's vestibule cab.

I have a reasonable amount of Aeolus research material (notably BB26 and
BB33) but have never seen BB14.

Does BB14 have any significant photos or drawings not in the other two
BB's? Does anyone have a spare copy they'd sell me, or a copy they'd loan
me for a week or so? I'd really appreciate either option.

One question I have is about the top contour of the boiler shroud. On 4000
it looks like the top line of the shrould was horizontal, whereas on 4001
it looks like the top line of the shroud sloped up slightly from the cab
towards the pilot. I made my earlier 4001 test etches like that, but want
to be sure on either loco (or if I go loco and make both versions...)

I've been unemployed for a year now and lacking resources for any bigger
projects (it would sure help if I sold more posters, hint hint) but this is
something small enough and focused enough that I should be able to do it in
a month or so.

Thanks all,

Randy
