If it isn't a rebuild, then it is likely the car was wrecked /
destroyed. The next possibility is sold to a railroad /
Pullman/Railroad Association (like the Pullman UP or
Pullman/MP). There are lots of examples in the Lot list of duplicate
named cars within a couple of years of each other. Ofttimes, there
was a technical improvement (vestibules, wide vestibules, SUF, SUF,
sheathing, etc.) that induced a new Plan and a "newly" built car that
was basically the same car, rebuilt. The first Pullmans built in
Denver are indicated as being rebuilts, though there is some conflict
with contemporary news accounts (the definition of new, rebuild, and
Lots and Plans is often an issue between news, trade and company records).
In fact, the 1902 car was built for the Pullman/MP Assoc.
BUT - the name OMAHA does not necessarily pertain to a Pullman
operated or owned car. It could be a UP, CRIP, MP or other railroad
owned car. It might not even *BE* a Pullman built car. There are
simply too many unknown variables to determine the car from a rather
common name.
