There's no need for trying to find loopholes in the law if permission is obtained from the copyright holder. Several misconceptions regarding Fair Use have been propounded. The idea that giving away someone else's work is fair usage invalidates the whole concept of copyright. The idea that anyone who is interested is entitled to a free copy is invalid. Case law varies on how many copies constitute infringement. One copy for your personal use is allowed. One professor was convicted for making thirty copies for his class. The percentage or total wordage is another factor, again case law has imposed limits of 10% or 500 words and then for the purpose of expanding knowledge by using the quoted section in conjunction with further study of the subject.
