Yes I understand all that, I also don`t think the Saudi`s are going to scrap 
anything of great value.

      they did not buy them to create a museum, they bought them to use them. 
When it didnt work, they parked them. They understand enough to not simply 
scrap them. Not everyone is a railfan like we are.

Thank you for the response, yes that link did work. That`s why mothballed 
aircraft are stored in the desert, it`s a dry environment. Because of the money 
the Saudi`s get from oil they could keep up on the maintenance of these train 
sets, and if they understand the historical and monatary value of these cars 
they would keep them in a building.

I think the concern with the sand was the clogging of air filters, but you are 
correct that they would fair better than in those other environments.  Reminds 
me of the airplane graveyards out in the desert southwest.

<Your link doesn`t work.  Any of these train sets in Saudi Arabia would be in 
better shape then they would be in a tropical environment or a salty sea <side 
location.
