I recall when the Suaudis bought the Zephyrs from Mr. Barkett. He sold them 1
complete 1936 DZ train, 1 complete NZ train and approximately half of the other
1936 DZ train. The some of the missing cars were at the Black Hills RR I
understand.
Santa Fe ran demo runs for the buyers with a freight locomotive on the sets
between KC Union Station and Emporia. I went out to Holiday to catch a run-by
for the half Zephyr set, but it was a dreary day.
All of the cars received new upholstery and truck work. He removed the big
revolving reclining parlor chairs from the NZ Obs and put airline seats in
their plact. It looked very odd when I saw it.
