I have one of the 1975 models put out by Nickle Plate and have a question about the castings used. It seems like some of them are showing signs that they are made out of pot metal. The cylinders and tender trucks are also showing signs of "whitening" that is similiar to when pot metal starts to age. Is this what I'm seeing or is it just effects of improper storage by the previous owner? I haven't ever seen one of the 1975 models stripped down all the way. I think some of the castings on the model are from Cal-Scale but others I'm not so sure. The tender trucks, trailing truck, and the lubricators are in particularly bad shape. Thanks for any help!
