Thanks to Mr & Mrs Phil Weibler, Dave Lotz & crew plus the clinicians (Charlie
Vlk & Ed DeRouin) for a great day at a good price. The West Chicago Museum
staff went the extra mile with a definitive answer as to where the 1st rails
were laid for what ultimately became BNSF. They also had the re-relocated
depot open for us and visited one on one with members on what is normally a day
off for them. As always the meet was a good place to meet old friends and make
new ones.

I had one new member stop by my swap tables to learn how to read a CB&Q
timetable and learn what could be gleaned from an Employee's vs. a 'public'.
Those of us who have been long time Q fans need to remember to keep the Society
going we need new blood AND we need to keep them interested. Whether you're a
rivet counter or someone who just runs a Lionel around your Christmas tree, you
are equally valued and welcomed!

Collectibles Question: older tall globe lanterns have an embossed (cast)
Burlington Route herald. Some have a true rectangular "box" around "Burlington
Route" while others have rounded corners for the herald "box". Was this an
indication of an older or newer version or a different globe manufacturer?

The 46th Mail Auction at the Colorado RailRoad Museum has begun and
closes May 15th.
There's a lot of books and other paper items on the list. The 16 page
auction catalogue is available on line at:
http://www.coloradorailroadmuseum.org/sites/default/files/imce/Auction%20
46%20-%202009-lores.pdf
There's some valuable Colorado railroad books and other stuff listed.
Enjoy.
