Jim, first the ebay number provided I don't believe is correct. Is it
140312173540? This slide shows #52098 taken in 1982 in Sioux
City. The number is white lined, like the car is out of service. What you think
is a hatch, appears to simply be the roof walk
extension. However it may be a new replacement, or a piece of something
fastened on top of the extension. I agree it does look
odd.
