This unit was an ex-Detroit Edison unit that they went to the trouble of
changing details to match C&S and then painted one side and the nose before
firing up the torch. It would have been nice to see it donated to a museum or
somewhere for display after going to that much trouble, after all, scrap prices
aren't that good right now.

While I can understand it. The U30C's were junk and the
C&S were the oldest of the bunch. There is no reason to
keep stuff that seldom pulls trains. That is the whole
idea of Transportation, pull trains and make them working.
The U23C's were even worse.
"Heritage?" I have never, ever, heard a Heritage pulled a
train any better. That is why they have Railroads.
