Thanks Russ and Pete.  I was wondering why the Q would run both sides of the 
river, but I guess that was answered pretty quickly by the bridge at Rulo, like 
you said.

That's the Atchson and NEbraska.... Parts of it are still "seeable" and a 
couple of depots are still extant..White Cloud and another IIRC.

The NRHS Topeka Chapter ran a "driving tour" over this route a couple of years 
ago..

I was recently looking at David Rumsey's map of the Q and noticed a line 
running up the west bank of the Missouri River from west of St. Joseph, MO to 
about Falls City, NE. Did I see that correctly? What is the story of that line??
