I have been studying the Twin Cities double tracking and line changes, and this has been fascinating. Many questions have developed, but I will ask only two here, both between Savanna and Galena Jct. Between Proving Ground and Whitton, the maps show an abandoned line joining the WB at the east end of Curve 156 at MP 156.1. I'm trying to determine if this was part of a line change or just some other line. Maps clearly identify most line changes on both ends. This one is marked "Abandoned Line" on the west end only near MP 156. There is no beginning point shown, but it would have been somewhere west of MP 154. Further west, a major line change occured from about MP 164.5 to almost MP 169. In addition to identifying the original CB&N track, there is also a track identified Original Proposed F&M track. Was this a predecessor to CB&N, or a separate company not related to the Q. Thanks for any insight. Glen Haug ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
