There is a product out there that removes lettering only.  Can't remember the 
name off hand, but, a friend of mine has used it for some time.  An old trick 
used on Athearn was Scotch tape, rubbed then carefully remove at a 90 degree 
angle.  I have used thid on Athearn passenger cars and it works.  It may also 
work on P2k's.
