The original CZ consist left on 3/20/1949.
In the CB&Q Passenger train volume 2 there is a consist from 4/22/49.
Barley a month later. One might expect a couple of the sleepers to
be different than the original consist, but it would have seemed
reasonable that the consist didn't change all that much in a
month. After all, the Q wasn't yet utilizing the cars on the AZ.
What is interesting is that the cars for that 4/22 consist came from
four of the original consists. In other words, within a month - the
cars had become completely mixed. I knew that the trans-con sleeper
would have been different, and possibly another. But, I couldn't see
a good reason for (example) the 3 dome coaches to separate within a
month. And the signature cars (baggage, lounge, diner, obs) which
theoretically stayed together longer than most - were from two
different original consists. One of those entertaining pieces to
think about.
