Yes it has happened to me. Anymore in this hobby you've got to check out the
manufactures web sites to see what is coming and when. Then if you're lucky
enough perhaps your local hobby shop will order it for you. These days almost
every model seems to be limited run. No longer will say Athearn produce a
model and have it in their catalog for ever and ever.
One really good example was when BLI brought out their CZ. Athearn had
produced F 3's 9960-62 ABC a while before the BLI CZ cars arrived. If I would
have
been Athearn I'd have poured more plastic and brought out a second run of
the F 3's. I guess it's much the way brass models are when you see one
announced
you want get an order in for it.
I don't think it's the right way to do business but it seems that it's the
way it is in the hobby these days. I've heard buddies of mine complain that
I've paid for that model well over a year ago where is it? Oh yeah, I know, I'm
waiting for the Turbo train from Rapido.
