Just a general problem. Minnesota owned Interstate Bridge was
closed at 8 p.m. on 03-June-08. Virtually no notice was made in
advance. This is a 1941 bridge. Needed severely rusted gusset
plates. This has been talked about for some time but they got
inspected on that day and just shut it down with no notice.
It will take around two weeks before back in service.

Wisconsin is a major source at this bridge and has a large are
of jobs. There is also some other jobs going the other way.
There would also be a hospital delay.

Did anyone care? Yes, for sure. A group of buses were set up
between areas at Alma and Trempealeau. This would get them as
to Latsch Island. A boat would be available to move to the
Levee at Winona. Winona would bus to jobs. There was going to
be scheduled set up. Yes, it will be paired, but still better
that trying to run via La Crosse or Wabasha.

Water level for the river is normal. There is no rail contact
that would be involved in any way.

Russ
