Subject: [CBQ] CHICAGO UNION STATION JAIL
Q Fans:
My son is doing a paper on Chicago Union Station. Reportedly, at one
time,
there was a jail in the building. Does anybody know where it was, and
are
there any anecdotes about it, and the folks who might have "visited" it?
Thanks,

Thanks, Phil...
I have no personal knowledge either. The best I can do is to refer to
some guy's book on CUS...
Chuck, the jail was small. It held perhaps two guests. Mostly it was
used to hold escorted guests traveling across the country between
trains. The CUSCo had its own police force that developed a close
working relationship with the CPD. In the two decades before Amtrak
the cell was rarely used for any purpose other than to hold guests-in-
transit. Since then, the facility has been closed.

Ed DeRouin
