I would say having work Aurora Tower for 6 months in the fall of 73 the exit
signals were for current of traffic. There were some unused levers in the
Aurora Plant which were not used because of the CTC installation at either end
of the interlocker. Buda was one of many stations along the Main Line which
used a Check Block System to route traffic between interlockers. So the exit
signals would have been controlled by the current of traffic set up between ie.
Buda and East Kewanee for a westbound movement.

Gorup...
I made a discovery while watchhing Chicago Odyssey for the umteenth time.
Several of the interlockings shown on the main line had exit signals in
addition to the home signals governing the plants. Buda was one that was
shown in addition to a few others. What was the purpose. I've been running
on several roads for 37 years and have only seen additional signals in back
to back and split interlockings.
