I don't know if they weathered well or not, according to the Societies
data sheet on triple hoppers they started painting the cars black in
1962 to represent their assignment to coal service. In 1960 500 cars
were built and painted Chinese red, while some were repainted black most
stayed red through the BN merger.
I would say most triple hoppers for 1969 would be black but you would
have some Chinese red cars and even a few mineral red as I saw a mineral
red car after the merger.
