What work were you planning on doing on the cars? I had not noticed
any changes needed.

The Athearn P-S cars in green are correctly numbered and lettered for
the XM-5 cars that made it to the green scheme. I talked with Athearn
when they ran the cars. They had photos of three XM-5s in green -
9805, 9824, and 9837. I am not sure if any other XM-5's received
green. To me it is surprising any of them actually made it to green
considering how new they were. In the photos, 9805 has a repaint date
of 11-68, 9824 has a repaint date of 5-68. When repainted green, the Q
left the Burlington Route herald boards on the cars but painted them
green. I don't know why they did not remove them. Perhaps they felt
that the BN herald would later be applied.

In my opinion the Athearn Genesis XM-5's are probably the finest HO
CB&Q boxcar ever made in plastic. I have 5 of them (3 red, 2 green). I
am planning on renumbering the one duplicate red car I have someday.
Then it goes on the layout with the other four.
