With all this talk of C&S U30C's, just a reminder:

The Hill roads were all looking very seriously at GE in pre-merger
days. The post merger BN U30C era attests to this, as do the
pre-merger CB&Q U23C's, C&S U30C's and GN/NP U33C's. The often
forgotten tidbit is that the Q had 4 U33C's on order prior to the
merger. The CB&Q units were to have been CB&Q 578-581, numbered
sequentially after the U28C's. Unfortunately, they were delivered to
the BN, post-merger, in BN green.

Of course, had they been delivered to the Q, the probably would have
been in green hockey stick anyway. What a shame...

One additional note: If you want to run a GN Big Sky blue U33C or NP
U33C on a pre-merger CB&Q freight train, go ahead! The GN and NP
U33C's were definitely delivered via the Q from Chicago to Mpls-StP.
There is great footage from Emery Gulash of a Q freight on the triple
track out of Chicago with a brand new GN U33C as the trailing unit
shot in 1968. (A still shot from the same footage is in Greg
McDonnel's U-Boat book on page 75; a shot of an NP U33C being
delivered on 7-17-1969 is in Spoor's Q Vol. 4 book page 107.) I can
only guess that all the U33C's for GN and NP came through as well.
Just make sure they are running westbound! (BTW, if anyone has
additional photo evidence of these deliveries, I would love to see it.)

Also, does anyone know if the SP&S C-636's were delivered via the Q?
