Bill:? You can buy the CD of this movie which contains some guy who claims to
be a railroad history expert talk about the filming of the movie....Most of
what he says is BS, but it's interesting to hear.
This movie is one of my all time favorite RR movies..Filmed in the Pacific
Northwest.
The old engineer is Malcom Atterbury whose grandfather or great grandfather was
General Atterbury at one time president of the PRR.
It' fairly authentic, but has lots of "far fetched" action scenes.??
How about the old YM in the tower telling "Shack"..."I'll give you the CLIP on
that"....Any old railroaders know the term applied to what most today would
call "scratch paper".? We called it "Clip Paper" on the Rock Island.? It wasn't
until I saw this movie that the origin of the term "clip" came to me.?? That's
one of several authentic railroad bits.?
Enjoy the movie..Don't worry about total authenticity...IT AIN'T THERE.
Pete
