The answer to both your questions is yes.
The Observation Car book was published in 2005 by TLC Publishing
Inc. and the author is Jonathan J. Boyle, Sr.
And as answered by Stephen, yes the 6 cars you asked about did have
doors in the rear obs end of the car. In fact Mr. Boyles book says
that in 1939 with the delivery of the first four cars of this style,
all the rest of the observation cars from Budd for the Burlington
had doors in the obs end.
