Years ago I made a mouth-blown 4-chime whistle with adjustable baffles (I can
"derate" it to a 3-chime) to try to replicate by ear the sound of the PZ
"horns"
from Silver Streak. But upon more thought I figured that the movie sound was
not reasonable for air horns--it sounds far too shrill. More like a set of
"peanut whistles" like the one at the obs end. But I can dig it out and
revisit
the tuning.

Alternatively, I can run the snippet of the soundtrack through a spectal
analysis program and try to find out what the fundamental frequencies are.
Probably easier to do it by ear (I have very good relative pitch but not
perfect
fundamental pitch)

I'll do that in the next few days and report back if someone else doesn't in
the
meantime. (My HO copy of the Con-Cor PZ didn't come with a DVD so I can't
speak
for the Tracks Ahead segment, but it looks like it is still available if I buy
the whole 4th season from MPTV)

Best regards,

Randy
