Haven't heard anything back on this question about lettering removal on
Branchline Pullman passenger cars. Has anyone done this?
Thanks,

Subject: [CBQ] CB&Q Pullman Sleepers
Has anyone had experience with buying one of the Branchline cars with
Pullman in the letterboard and removing the car name and replacing it
with one of the appropriate names for CB&Q leased cars? Some lettering
is easier than others to remove, and I wonder how easy the Branchline
lettering is to remove.
The discussion last week on Pullman sleepers led me to do some research
over the weekend on the lettering of various Pullman sleepers.
Interestingly, there seems to be some variation in the letterboard. As
discussed previously, the blank letterboard was for cars purchased from
Pullman post-1949. Here is what I found in the way of photos for cars
painted in Pullman Green (as opposed to silver):
8-1-2 John Forbes w/Pullman in letterboard Everywhere
West p28
8-1-2 John Forbes w/Pullman in letterboard BB#42
Exposition Flyer p246
12-1 Nachita CB&Q #613 w/blank letterboard CB&Q Color
Guide p28
12-1 Princeton University w/blank letterboard CB&Q Color
Guide p28
10-1-1 Rice Lake w/Pullman in letterboard Branchline
Website
8-5 Clover Basin w/Pullman in letterboard BB#42
Exposition Flyer p244
2-2-2-1 Lounge-Buffet Minnesota Club w/Blackhawk in letterboard &
small Pullman on both ends of the letterboard Burlington Route
Passenger Trains Vol I p26
Does anyone know if other leased cars had the name of the train in the
letterboard like this Minnesota Club car did at the time the photo was
taken? I'm assuming from the photos I have found that Pullman in the
letterboard was more typical. I am anxious to see Bill Glick's new book
(Burlington Passenger Car Photo Album) and its photos for Pullmans.
Thanks,
Scott Myers
