Ok Leo I'll give it a shot.
JM Owens really loved being an engineer!! Well he retired at the ripe old
age of 72 years and one month. If you would ask Jim about his retirement he
would answer that he never retired he was made to quit. When he returned
back to Galesburg from Chicago he was met by some men with papers. He asked
these gentlemen what these papers were for? They answered they are your
retirement papers! He answered that he was not ready to retire! They
proceeded to tell him that it was either a railroad or a union rule (I can't
remember) that he must retire at this time. Supposedly, Jim was so upset
that he went to railroad retirement and took out all his money. He said he
had to sign some papers about not working in North or South America for the
rest of his life. Swore he got all his money so he could invest it? How
many people today would be upset about being made to retire at 72 years old.
I'm counting down the 17 years before I can retire from education!!
