Yesterday while coming back on the dinkie from Chgo. I remembered a question
that I used to ask the "old heads". Let's see if anyone on the list can answer
this one.
Steve please refrain from answering until others have a chance as I suspect
you have first hand knowledge of the answer.
Here's the question: In the pre-radio days how would a crew know what trk. to
s/o or p/u from @ Eola,Mendota and other yards while enroute? The answer is
not a message with their train orders.
And not to get off and ask the Ydmstr. A clue is this method of passing on
info. was still in place at one location in Chgo well into the 1970's but was
not for a frt train but rather passenger service at that location.
