I've gotten a "lot of miles" out of that one although my memory was  somewhat 
lax regarding the details.
 
I've used it many times....someone...I think it was Mark Twain is said to  
have remarked..." Never let the facts get in the way of a good story"...and I  
recall reading someone's comments in TRAINS a few years ago..don't remember the 
 context but the quote was..."Points for verity don't count as much as points 
for  style".
 
When I read your account of  "the RFE and the '32"   and the  name John came 
up I thought this has to be the same guy that said.......I  know......
