Pete and list,

Yes, John S was a guest speaker at a Q meet as well as bein W.
C. "Sport" Becker's Fireman. It was not, however, Honest John that
authored that terse reply to the fan in question.

Willard (Sport) was queried about the weight, "dunno", the driver
dia., "dunno", cyl. bore, "dunno" to which the fan was heard to
remark, "gee, you really don't know much about the locomotive you're
assigned to, do you?" Sport's reply was short and to the point.
Sport had a way with words. "Mebby so but I know what the SOB pays a
hundred!"

We never knew if this fulfilled the need of the fan or not.

Karl
