The industry was named Faskure for many years. Not sure what the current
corporate designation might be.
Faskure received loads of silica sand from the pits down the Fox River
Branch; Wedron,Ottawa and Shabbona Silica they then treated the sand and
applied it
to various products. As I recall one of their products was hand gloves coated
with the sand which were extemely popular with train crews when the price was
right(interpret that to mean free). Wonder why ? Ever try to grab hold of hand
hold on a freight car after a freezing rain ?
Their building was the original site of Lyon Metal.
