There was a lengthy discussion of this car a year or so back. One
question was where it operated. I saw one in service once. I was
traveling from LaCrosse to E. Dbq on a Sunday and it was in the
consist right behind the head-end cars. As was my usual habit after
boarding, I walked the length of the Afternoon Zephyr and that's when
I encountered it. The unique feature experience-wise was the
transition from a Budd diaphram into S. Pendulum which had much less
motion. Visually of course the visual highlight was the oval windows
(which reminded me of the Milwaukee). I did not ride in S. Pendulam
that day though for an obvious reason - it had no dome! Gerald
PS - Bob commented that when being tested it operated on a couple
routes one being Chicago-Savannah. I'd guess on occasion though,
especially summers on a Sunday, it like other 'extra' equipment might
very well have gone to LaX or even Twin Cities. Anyway it would
explain why I 'found' it somewhere between LaX & Stoddard.
